Our services are tailored to each individual, ensuring that regardless of the specific issues or disabilities, we provide effective, personalised support and strategies.

What is Brain Seed's approach to therapy?

At Brain Seed, our therapy approach is goal-focused and evidence-based. We collaborate with clients and/or their families to identify key areas for development, setting clear goals to work towards increased independence in those areas. Our methods may involve working on underlying skills, such as improving hand-eye coordination to engage in ball games, or focusing directly on the task itself, like teaching step-by-step processes for getting dressed. This dual approach ensures a comprehensive and effective therapy experience tailored to each individual's needs.

What makes Brain Seed different?

At Brain Seed, we address common challenges in occupational therapy with our unique approach. Unlike some practices that may rely heavily on standardised programs or overlook the client's individual context, we emphasise personalised, context-specific strategies. We avoid pitfalls like insufficient client involvement in goal setting or neglecting the latest research in our field. Instead, we prioritise collaborative goal-setting with clients and their families, focusing on practical outcomes that matter to them. Our therapists are dedicated to continuous learning and applying the latest evidence-based practices, ensuring our clients receive the most effective and up-to-date interventions.

How do I know if my child needs occupational therapy

How do I know if my child needs occupational therapy?

Determining if your child needs occupational therapy involves observing their daily activities and development. Look for signs such as difficulties with coordination, challenges in playing or socialising with peers, trouble with daily tasks like dressing or eating, or delays in reaching developmental milestones. Behavioural issues or unusual responses to sensory experiences can also be indicators. If you notice any of these signs, or if you have concerns about your child’s development, it’s a good idea to consult with an occupational therapist for an evaluation. We always encourage concerned parents to call our practice to speak with a Senior Occupational Therapist, free of charge and obligation.

How should I prepare for my first appoitment

How should I prepare for my first appointment?

Preparing for your first appointment at Brain Seed involves a few simple steps to ensure a smooth and effective session. Firstly, fill out any forms or documentation sent to you prior to the appointment, as this information is crucial for tailoring the session to your needs. Bring any relevant medical records or reports that can provide insight into your or your child's history. It's also helpful to think about and note down any specific concerns or goals you wish to discuss.

How long does a typical therapy session last?

Initial appointments and assessments at Brain Seed generally last between 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. This time frame includes a segment (10-20 minutes) dedicated to note-taking and documentation by the therapist. For regular therapy sessions, the duration is set at 55 minutes, with an additional 5 minutes allocated for the therapist to complete session notes. This structure ensures that each session is thorough and allows time for necessary administrative tasks without encroaching on your therapy time.

Can I be involved in my child's appointment?

Yes! At Brain Seed, we value the important role that parents play in their child’s therapy. We encourage parents to be actively involved in the therapy process. This might include participating in sessions, implementing strategies at home, and providing feedback on the child's progress. Our therapists are committed to working closely with parents to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to each child's development. We believe that parental involvement is key to maximising the benefits of therapy and ensuring the best outcomes for the child.

How much does therapy cost at Brain Seed?

Therapy services are priced at $193.99 per hour for all clients, regardless of their funding source. For NDIS clients, there is an additional one-way travel charge, calculated based on the NDIS rate. This means the travel cost is proportional to the distance traveled to provide the service. Additional charges apply for report writing, communication with stakeholders such as support coordinators and other therapists, and for the time spent creating customised resources for therapy.
